GamePulse ("we", "us", or "our") operates the GamePulse application and website at www.gamepulse.com.au (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile photo (if you choose to upload one)
  • Authentication credentials (passwords are securely hashed by Firebase Authentication and never stored by us in plain text)

If you sign in using a third-party provider (Google, Facebook, or Microsoft), we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider in accordance with their privacy policies.

1.2 Club, Team, and Player Information

When you use the Service to manage sports clubs and teams, we collect:

  • Club names, locations (address and optional GPS coordinates), logos, and website URLs
  • Team names, divisions, age groups, and team colours
  • Player names, jersey numbers, and playing positions
  • Club membership and role information

1.3 Game and Performance Data

When you track games, we collect:

  • Game details (date, time, location, opposition, round)
  • Game events and statistics (scores, individual player stats)
  • Timer and period information
  • Field position coordinates (if location tracking is enabled for a game)

1.4 User-Generated Content

  • Feedback submissions, bug reports, and feature requests
  • Screenshots or attachments uploaded with feedback
  • Dashboard layout preferences and display settings

1.5 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • Device type and browser information
  • Usage patterns and feature interactions (via analytics)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Local storage data (authentication tokens, cached data for offline use, and UI preferences)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Enable you to create and manage clubs, teams, and games
  • Track and display game statistics and performance data
  • Generate AI-powered game analysis and insights
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, club invitations, feedback updates)
  • Respond to your feedback and support requests
  • Analyse usage patterns to improve the Service
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the Service

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

4. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in locations outside Australia, including the United States (Firebase, PostHog, Resend, Upstash, Twilio, RevenueCat) and the Asia-Pacific region (AWS S3 in Sydney, Australia). We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. Game data and statistics are retained indefinitely to preserve historical records for your clubs and teams.

If you delete your account, we will remove your personal profile information and club memberships. Aggregated or de-identified game statistics may be retained.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Firebase Authentication for secure credential management
  • Role-based access controls (Firestore Security Rules)
  • Secure, pre-signed URLs for file uploads

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to our legal obligations)
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached your privacy

8. Children's Privacy

GamePulse is used to manage sports teams, which may include teams with players under the age of 18. However, account registration is intended for adults (coaches, team managers, and club administrators) who are responsible for managing team data.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Player names and jersey numbers entered by team managers are managed under the responsibility of the club or team administrator. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us and we will take steps to delete that information.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage and session storage (not traditional cookies) for:

  • Maintaining your authentication session
  • Caching data for offline functionality and performance
  • Storing your UI preferences (theme, layout)

Third-party services (such as PostHog and Google) may set their own cookies in accordance with their privacy policies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
